Wolaver's India Pale Ale
Otter Creek Brewing Company got me. Never buy two sixpacks by same company at one time. Didn't realize they made Wolaver's beers until I got to car and looked at beer caps. The beer? Hops understated. Accompanying flavors lacking. Scent vague. Musty and indistinct. Not good enough.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Otter Creek Brewing Company Summer
Otter Creek Summer
Starting with the good stuff: Has very pleasing golden color!!! But...not much of a scent. Thin head. Can pick up on some wheat; otherwise it's low on flavor. Little bit of citrus maybe, but it's really slight. Very simple beer. Passable in a pinch. Not memorable.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Old Forge Brewing Company Endless Summer Ale

Bought this beer because I was attracted by the canned sixpack of 16-ounce pounders. A little bit of wheat taste. Little bit of hops. Little bit of an aftertaste. Basically, it has a little bit of flavor, period. Very disappointing purchase. Not much better than big-box light beers.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Flying Dog Woody Creek Belgian Style White
Flying Dog Woody Creek Belgian Style White
After having a bust of a wheat in Widmer Brothers Hefeweizen, it is nice to have a white that makes you believe in the lighter ales. This beer by the quietly great Maryland brewery is a gorgeous, effervescent clear color. The orange notes and Belgian spices combine perfectly. Total class.

Goose Island India Pale Ale
This one ranks as a major improvement over the previously sampled Honker's Ale. It has a powerful citrus scent, a pleasant color that falls between golden and amber, and a spikey hop flavor that really pops. Also features a smooth texture that makes it go down easy as session beer.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Full Pint All In Amber

Last time I had Full Pint beer, it was Chinookie IPA. Wasn't a fan. Had friend drive in from Pittsburgh for visit. Addressed Full Pint. In tribute, gave them another chance. All In Amber WAS better. Like how malts almost approach stout-flavor, yet its still crisp and easy-drinking.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Full Sail Pale Ale

Hung out with buds Thursday. Night got foggy. Remember everything though. Ate delicious sausage-and-onions pizza by brother's girlfriend. Spun both Big Country and Wu-Tang. Danced while holding dumbbells (extra cardio). Drank this Oregon-based beer. Drove home. Was a little bored by beer. Rest was great!!!

Full Pint Chinookie IPA
Wasn't nice to buy Pittsburgh beer while Flyers take on Penguins in NHL playoffs. Oh well. Never liked hockey. Don't like sports with players whose names I can't pronounce. I was paid back though. Stale, musty smell. Dark, murky color. Hops subtle and overwhelmed by harsh flavor. Aftertaste. Poor experience.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Fegley's Brew Works Always Sunny Pale Ale
Fegley's Brew Works Always Sunny Pale Ale
Fegley's six-pack reads: "Support your local brewery." Pet peeve. No guilt trips! Whether it's beer, arugula, or another product, I'm not supporting companies because we're both Pennsylvania-based. I'll support this beer because of its hoppy aroma, its powerful finish, and a crisp feel that rewards session drinking.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Stoudt's Scarlet Lady ESB

Beer blogger's dream? Mixed sixers. Half-dozen beers to review without shelling out cash for 36 bottles. On name recognition, prize of pack may be this concoction by one of Pennsylvania's best breweries. Not as stellar as their Pils, but a fine malt punch and smokiness that arises upon swallow.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Abita Mardi Gras Bock

Don't have a bucket list. The concept is silly. If I did, I'd add going to New Orleans. Wouldn't go to Mardi Gras. Too many drunks. Would probably go to some hopping jazz bar. If they're selling this beer, I'd order it. Crisp. Lots of varying flavors.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Southern Tier Phin & Matt's Extraordinary Ale

Don't know who Phin & Matt are, but if they are the beverage's brewers they've used their well-balanced recipe of three different hops and three different malts to develop a beer that, while it may not quite be "extraordinary," is certainly delicious and enjoyable in a simple, uncomplicated way.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Great Lakes Commodore Perry IPA

Cleveland, Ohio's Great Lakes Brewing Company has to be one of the more underrated entities currently making beer in the 50 states. This is a sublime India Pale. It boasts tons of hop flavor and a generous bit of citrus that rivals the best California has to offer.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Weyerbacher Winter Ale

While it probably helped that this was the first thing that touched my lips after two hours of full-court basketball, I think I would have enjoyed this beer no matter the conditions. It's supremely malted with a smoky character. Traces of cherry jumped out at first sip.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Southern Tier Pale Ale
From the makers of one of the worst beers I have ever tasted, the vomalicious Pumking, a beer that a friend once accurately described as a "Yankee Candle in a glass," comes a subtly hopped pale ale of some distinction. Wonderful golden color, pungent floral scent, and crisp finish.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Stone Pale Ale

I think I've been spoiled by Stone Brewing Company. Every time I crack their beer open, I expect to be floored. This one? I can pick up somewhat of a scent. It's easy to drink. Nothing offends. But the hops are too subtle. Slightly bland. Sorry for the blasphemy.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Avery Karma Belgian-Style Pale Ale
Very crisp, complex offering from Boulder, Colorado brewer. Features very decent amount of Belgian spicing and a copious taste of coriander and orange. Also a plus? Its 5.4 percent ABV leaves it eligible for prolonged consumption without extreme inebriation. Should be said: This company does great label art.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Great Lakes Brewing Company Dortmunder Gold

Beers like to say they have won gold medals. I saw a commercial once where Miller Lite said they'd won a gold medal. For what? No clue. Dortmunder Gold says it won a gold medal at the World Beer Championships. They deserve it. One of the best lagers ever.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Williamsburg Alewerks Drake Tail IPA

When I picked this up, I thought I was getting beer from a hip, new brewery in the "artist's section" of Brooklyn, NY. Turns out that it's from another Williamsburg, the one where the colonials came from in Virginia. Tasting some citrus and definite abundant hops. Good, not great.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Founders Dry Hopped Pale Ale

Probably a little less than I would expect from Founders - the makers of Centennial IPA, one of the best non-California IPAs around. There's a bit of a floral feel, but it's low in hop flavor. Hate to use the word "watered-down," but there you have it.
