Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Abita Mardi Gras Bock

Abita Mardi Gras Bock
Don't have a bucket list. The concept is silly. If I did, I'd add going to New Orleans. Wouldn't go to Mardi Gras. Too many drunks. Would probably go to some hopping jazz bar. If they're selling this beer, I'd order it. Crisp. Lots of varying flavors.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Abita Christmas Ale

Abita Christmas Ale
Last I checked with Abita, drank their Restoration Pale Ale. Thought it was fairly bland. This is a major rally. One of the more interesting beers I've sampled recently. Hops and malt both pop. Serious smoky flavor. Detecting bits of spruce and something bacony (seriously). Wonderfully complex!

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Abita Restoration Pale Ale

Abita Restoration Pale Ale
Bought this beer because I really liked the six-pack art and buying into anything New Orleans makes me feel cooler. Jazz. Mardi Gras. The television show Treme. Ragging on George W. Bush. I love it all. However, this beer was a major letdown. Hops were weak. Flavor was nonexistent.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Abita Satsuma Harvest Wit

Abita Brewing Company Satsuma Harvest Wit
Didn't have high hopes for this beer from the Louisiana brewery. The label jumped out so I gave it a go. Very refreshing! Reminded me of a Hoegaarden, only better. Then a friend says to me, "It's like a Hoegaarden, only better." That's the review: Like a Hoegaarden. Only better.

King of the Case: Samuel Adams

Wherein I will buy a variety case and decide what the best beer in it is.

Samuel Adams

I'm just not a fan of light beer. I understand that you have to make something like this when you are a high-profile beer brand with commercials on TV and stuff. You need to appeal to the people who like Budweiser because they think the Clydesdales are kick-arse! This being said, I don't think this had any business in a variety pack. It's low on flavor and a must-skip for beer sophisticates.
