Deal Alert: Garrett Hill Pizza in Rosemont and Uncle Oogie's in South Philly

LivingSocial is featuring two pizza deals today:

Garrett Hill Pizza
Today's deal offers $25 of food and non-alcoholic drinks at Garrett Hill Pizza for $12. Main Line Today calls this cozy Rosemont eatery and Villanova student hotspot home to the best traditional pizza. Using the tried-and-true recipe of a crunchy, thin crust and fresh toppings, you'll find classic options such as plain cheese, Margherita, Steak Supreme, veggie, and upside down (sauce on top of cheese), or the more adventurous chicken fajita. Or, dig into what Philadelphia Magazine claims is the suburb's best cheesesteak, served with gooey mild provolone.

Deal Alert: CiCis Pizza and Italia Pizza & Fire Grill

Came across two pizza deals today:

CiCi's Pizza in Cherry Hill and Levittown on LivingSocial
Never been, but their commercials do make me hungry. Of course, most pizza commercials do. For $15 (regularly $32), you and three friends (or family members) can go to town at this establishment's buffet. Create your own salad, choose from a wide selection of pizza toppings and pasta options, and sample signature desserts like cinnamon buns. Cici's pizza crust is made from scratch daily.

Italia Pizza & Fire Grill in Glenside on BuyWithMe
This one's valid for takeout only, so make sure you live nearby (or want to eat in your car). $15 gets you $30 worth of takeout food. Located in Glenside, Italia Pizza & Fire Grill is home to hand-tossed gourmet pizzas like their always-popular Hawaiian Style and garlicky White Pizza. They also serve up Pizza Italiane, including a salmon-topped Salmone (oof, not sure this would be the pie for me) and the classic Margherita. If you had pizza yesterday, why not check out their menu of hoagies, pastas, entrees and salads?

Deal Alert: Slice and Apollo’s Family Pizzeria

Two pizza deals to report today:

Slice on Groupon
$10 gets you $20 worth of gourmet pizza and authentic Italian fare at Slice's Rittenhouse Square location, 1740 Sansom St. Never been myself, but I've read some pretty good reviews, so it might be worth a try. Also a BYOB if you're looking to get your wine or beer on.

Apollo’s Family Pizzeria on BuyWithMe
Pretty much the same deal here - buy the $10 voucher, get $20 worth of gourmet pizza and Italian cuisine. I love how all of the restaurants call their pizza gourmet, when in reality, there are very few pizzas I would consider "gourmet." Anyway, Apollo’s Family Pizzeria is located at 2255 Bristol Pike  in Bensalem.

Tale of the Pie: Franzone's Pizzeria

Yes, my grandparents definitely had those same glasses
Another weekend, another Philly Mag "Best Pizza" spot. This time it was Franzone's in Bridgeport, a pizzeria apparently in business since 1955.

Upon arriving at this neighborhood spot with the hubby and nibble, I immediately decided that I would not look around extensively while we wined and dined. That's because I'm a bit of a clean freak, and this place was not up to par. And let's just say that our fellow diners made the Via Veneto's crowd look runway-ready.

When we saw that a half carafe of wine was only $6.95, we couldn't help but order it and laugh about what we might be getting. It ended up being a chilled red, most likely from a Carlo Rossi or Paisano jug. Oh, and two mini, slightly dirty, old-school Italian glasses that I remember being part of my grandparent's glassware collection. Beer is also quite cheap for a decent selection - $3 for a bottle of  Russian River Damnation, Golden Monkey, Prima Pils or Summer Love from Victory, or Dogfish Head Festina PĂȘche.
