Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Flying Dog K-9 Cruiser Winter Ale

Flying Dog K-9 Cruiser Winter Ale
Don't get me wrong: I actually liked this beer from the Maryland brewers and Ralph Steadman aficionados. It has interesting notes of cherry, caramel, chocolate, and more. However, it is so malty, it almost seems like more of an Oktoberfest. I'm not complaining though.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Hacker-Pschorr Original Oktoberfest

Hacker-Pschorr Original Oktoberfest
Having enjoyed German brewery Hacker-Pschorr's wheat beer immensely, I figured that their amber Marzen would be a safe bet. However, it falls short. Light on malty flavor, it comes off a bit bland. After having one, I struggled to get excited about finishing the sixer (which is saying something).

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Sly Fox Oktoberfest

With Sly Fox closing its doors at the Royersford location my brother and I had to say goodbye properly. Choosing the seasonal Oktoberfest during a dismal Eagles game was a smart choice. The medium bodied lager with a malty taste was good enough for me to pick up a growler on the way out. We'll miss you Sly Fox Rofo!

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Victory Festbier

Victory Brewing Company Festbier
Phillies Beer #2: Was in Downingtown area today for 5K. Wifey promised me we could go to Victory Brewpub if I ran. She welched. Uncool. Luckily, had bottle left in the fridge. Fine Oktoberfest beer. Heavy maltiness, hint of caramel, and something that comes across to me like grape.

Booze...in 50 Words or Less: Brooklyn Oktoberfest

Brooklyn Oktoberfest
Some suds experts would say that it's too early for an Oktoberfest beverage. I protest. My palate knows no calendar. Especially when the beer is by Brooklyn Brewery, makers of my favorite specialty beer of all time, the incredible Smoked Weissbock. This amber boasts an impressively potent, almost Porterish wallop.
