The Freezer Case: Archer Farms Pepperoni Thin Crust Pizza

While recovering from the all-out celebration in honor of my little sister's wedding (congrats Ellio!), we kept things pretty simple meal-wise this weekend. So we picked up an Archer Farms Pepperoni Thin Crust Pizza from Target for only $3.75 (on sale and had a coupon).

Overall, it was a very good pie. Plenty of smoky, slightly spicy pepperoni, both sliced and julienned. An ample amount of robust sauce, even according to Saucy's standards. The toppings were spread all the way to the edge, leaving very little naked crust. This was a good thing, because the crust was the one weak point. A little too thin, a bit cardboardy and it crunched like a Ritz cracker.

Even with the bunk crust, we'd get this one again ... especially at that price!

Happy Half-Birthday to the Nibble

The other day, I went into the nibble's room to re-cover him before going to bed and I stopped for a moment to just look at him. When did he get so big? The crib that once engulfed him now looked crowded with him and his three stuffed animals (or his "beebies" as he would call them).

Everyone tells you that kids grow up before you know it, but I really can't believe he is 18 months today. Not that I'm mourning the loss of his babyhood. Sure, dealing with full-on tantrums and actual discipline is a bit more challenging than the feed, cuddle, change diaper routine, but it's also much more rewarding. He's a like a little person, with his own ideas, mannerisms and dance moves. One of his big belly laughs is all I need to put a smile on my face. And sometimes, the highlight of my entire day is watching him clap when we get out of the car and he sees we're at the playground ... even though we've been there a million times before.

Tale of the Pie: Oaks Italian Pizzeria

The wife and I decided to take Saucy Jr. out for some errands today, and since we were on our way to our local Target, we decided we would stop in to Oaks Italian Deli & Pizzeria to see what their pie was all about. Being that it felt like a wonderful Spring day, we saddled up to a seat outside and enjoyed the wonderful view of the intersection to Egypt and Mill roads.

With it being Lent, we are not able to consume any meat, so the order was a plain pie with extra sauce and an order of mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were, of course, the first to arrive and they were quite good. The sticks themselves were quite ample and they came with a very good marinara sauce. They have pasta entrees on the menu and, from the taste of the marinara, I could definitely see myself enjoying one in the future.
